Emily Yoffe writes the Heavy Petting (Go Ahead, Sleep with Your Dog) and Human Guinea Pig (There She Is, Mrs. America) columns for Slate.com.  She has written for the New York Times, and "O" magazine, among many others.  She lives in Washington, D.C. with her sometimes housebroken beagle, Sasha, and her sometimes incontinent cats, Goldie and Biscuit, and her husband and daughter.  The latter two wish to remain anonymous so they can deny ever having met Emily.

"Dogs can take us to some pretty amazing places if we let them, and fortunately for dog lovers Emily Yoffe did.  Her wondrous and independent-minded beagle Sasha took her on quite a romp - in turns loving, though provoking and, always, entertaining.  The best dog books are as much about people as they are about dogs, and What the Dog Did is one of the best." - Jon Katz, author of A Dog Year and Dogs of Bedlam Farm.

"Face it, you need a laugh, and What the Dog Did provides a laugh on every page. At least I think so-my wife swiped my copy from the nightstand, read for three minutes, said, 'This is funny!' and then refused to give it back. But I do feel confident in saying that What the Dog Did is to neurotic beagles what War and Peace is to, well, war and peace."-Jeffrey Goldberg, staff writer for the New Yorker.

"Emily Yoffe is an excellent writer who shares her happiness and frustration with her formerly stray beagle, Sasha. But the book is bigger than that. Full of wonderful dog stories, it's not only fun but crammed full of information about dogs and the dog world."-Raymond Coppinger, author of Dogs.

"Laugh-out-loud funny." O, The Oprah Magazine
